Shiatsu is part of the particularly rich field of manual techniques practiced for millennia in the Far East, with its precise place of origin being Japan. Shiatsu means "finger pressure" in Japanese. Indeed, this method of care mainly uses thumb pressure techniques on the meridians, these energy pathways that run throughout our body and are connected to specific organs and functions.
The practitioner relies on the principles of Eastern energetics (TCM), such as the concept of Yin/Yang or the 5 elements, to assess the client. During the session, their goal is to rebalance this energy network by eliminating blockages. Imbalances can, over time, lead to illnesses affecting the body or mind.
Shiatsu aims to relax and rebalance the body and mind. It improves muscle and joint flexibility, corrects minor skeletal defects, harmonizes the functioning of the autonomic nervous system and endocrine glands, and stimulates blood and lymph circulation. It provides the recipient with a general sense of well-being and helps maintain good health preventively.
